Smithing Materials

This is meant to be a compilation of all the items needed to make the advanced or cultural smithing items. There is a topical list (which lists all items by category), a results based list (useable to make a "shopping list", also includes a who-can-wear-what section) and an alphabetical list (quick reference for who might want this, what is it for).

Results Based List

This list tries to be a quick guide for those who want to enlist the services of a smith and try to help out with collecting the necessary ingredients. (And if you didn't know it, your smith will be grateful for help of that kind). For some extra briefing, see the Who Can Wear What section.

Enchanted armor Enchanted items are made from enchanted ore. All ore used in the item must be enchanted, including ore used to make metal rings and chain jointing. The enchant spells use the blocks of ore - this means that a piece using 3 sheets of metal will need 3 separately enchanted blocks of ore. Pieces requiring chain jointing or rings also require the ore used to make the rings to be enchanted. Enchanting brellium and steel requires jacinths. Enchanting mithril and adamantite requires blue diamonds.
Imbued armor Imbued armor includes a gem that is deity specific and which is prepared by a worshipper of the deity. The deity of the smith creating the item is not relevant. The resulting item is deity restricted.
Dyed armor Only fine plate armor can be dyed. Dyes are applied after the piece is created in a separate and optional step. Once dyed, color cannot be undone or changed.

Who Can Wear What: Basic Imbued, enchanted etc.
- Fine plate is wearable by all races except iksar.
- It can be made in Small, Medium and Large sizes and the races able to wear each size follows the same rules as banded (with the exception of iksar).
- Fine plate is the only armor that can be dyed at this time.
- Fine plate can not be enchanted or imbued.
- Seafarer, Adamantite, Northman, Scale and Elven Chain are chain mail type armors and wearable by warriors, shadow knights, paladins, rogues, bards, clerics and shaman unless race precludes it.
-
Fine plate, Field plate, Full plate, Brellium, Mithril Plate and War Plate are plate mail armors and wearable by warriors, shadow knights, paladins, bards and clerics unless race precludes it.
-
Elven chain is also wearable by druids, enchanters, magicians and wizards of appropriate race.
- Erudites, Halflings, Gnomes, Half Elves and Trolls do not have cultural smithing of their own. (Erudites have racial tailoring on the way. Gnomes have tinkering and maybe something else on the way.
